Social entrepreneur business plan competition

Intellecap is running their 3rd annual business plan competition for social entrepreneurs based in India. They are offering prizes totally $US25,000 plus an opportunity to get support and assistance in refining your business application.

I think business plan competitions serve a very helpful purpose in motivating entrepreneurs to get more concrete about their vision and prepare for the necessary infusion of investor capital. I believe that social entrepreneurs will continue to have to a tremendous (if not the largest) impact on ending poverty in the next decade.

Ashoka's University Network keeps track of all the competitions at different universities.

They also hold online competitions through Changemakers.net and their citizen base initiative occasionally holds competitions regarding innovative strategies to become financial sustainable.

The Global Social Benefit Incubator (GSBI) is held annually at Santa Clara University. Apparently the conference was instrumental to the launch of Kiva. This year's event will take place August 19-31. Read more at Social Edge: http://www.socialedge.org/features/gsbi
